CECI
MORALES-ENRIQUEZ

Hi, I’m Ceci (seh-SEE) — short for Cecilia.

I’m a multidisciplinary designer and art director based in Detroit, MI, originally from Mexico. My work is driven by storytelling, experimentation, and bold visual thinking, shaped by a lifelong love of creating.

I’m currently earning a BFA in Communication Design & Strategy with a minor in Photography at the College for Creative Studies. I’m most passionate about advertising, photography, motion, and branding. I hope to create impactful ad campaigns that resonate and stick with every person who comes into contact with them. My process is focused on experimentation and storytelling, always continuing to ideate and play.

When I am not designing, you will find me searching through every aisle at the thrift store for my next statement piece, collecting trinkets, or waiting for the next karaoke night out with my friends.

08 NO COINCIDENCE, NO STORY

From words spoken to words on a page. The objective for this project was to take an american life podcast and turn it into a newspaper that combined image, type, and the overall basic rules of a newspaper publication. For the team, this was the first time that a publication that wasn’t a book was being made. The first steps were to look at several different inspirations from different newspapers to understand their grid structure, their image placing, and layout. Once research of other newspapers was done, it was time to start mind mapping and idealizing the look of this newspaper. The team decided that, because the podcast was all about coincidences and luck that the colors used were green and the analogous blue to complement it. Each team member was in charge of listening to the full story; however, every other spread was designed by a different person up until the back cover, which both team-members designed together. For imagery, the team had a clear vision of symbolism within the story that would drive the images on the page. After iterating through different spreads, both members came together to contextualize all ideas cohesively to create the final deliverable. In the end, the project's objective of partnered publication work, moodboarding, and publication beyond book design helped to have a wider knowledge of experimentation within publication.
